Waiting on Wednesday: Innocent Darkness by Suzanne Lezear

Waiting on Wednesday was started by Breaking the Spine and serves to showcase those books we’re not so patiently waiting to arrive!

I ate a lot of cookies today.  And I still want more cookies.  It’s like I’m Cookie Monster, but with better table manners and grammar, not quite so blue or fuzzy.

So really it’s not like I’m Cookie Monster at all, just an adult who decided to eat a lot of cookies today.

Moving on…

Today I really want to get my hands on a book that I’m having a very difficult time finding a synopsis for, so basically I really want it because the cover is pretty and it’s steampunk and even though the girl on the cover does not look like someone I’d want to spend a lot of time with, it’s steampunk and I hand wave a lot for steampunk.  Run-on sentence runs on and on.

Wish. Love. Desire. Live.

Sixteen-year-old Noli Braddock's hoyden ways land her in an abusive reform school far from home. On mid-summer's eve she wishes to be anyplace but that dreadful school. A mysterious man from the Realm of Faerie rescues her and brings her to the Otherworld, only to reveal that she must be sacrificed, otherwise, the entire Otherworld civilization will perish.

So it took me five websites before I found a synopsis, but I found one and now I know that, not only is it steampunk, but it has FAERIES!  Steampunk faeries!  Do they adorn their wings with gears and gizmos?  Oh, I do hope so.

Also, Lazear used the word “hoyden” in her novel blurb. +10

This all sounds like two books mishmashed together, but it should be fun and just about anything steampunk gets a chance with me.  Flux just might want to, I don’t know, list it on their site or something though.

Blurb finally found on Ms. Lazear's personal site
