Random Tuesdays: Geeky Links, Game of Thrones, and Benedict Cumberbatch

Today I planned on posting another list, this time of things I’m looking forward to in 2012.  But now that I’m home, I’m grumpy and hungry so you’re getting things that make me smile instead.

I started a tumblr late last week.  I’m not entirely sure what the point of tumblr is for someone like me that doesn’t take a lot of pictures or draw awesome pictures, so I avoided it for a very long time.  I have since figured out it’s handy in keeping track of awesome things that other people draw and geek out about.  I guess I’m just using it as a fancy bookmarking tool.  So here are a few things I’ve bookmarked in the last few days.

Before Christmas, I went a little crazy over the artwork of Gingerhaze.  I’m still addicted to her adorable little comics and fanart, as well as her incredible original art she does for school.  I think we can all relate to this, though in this case, she was referencing A Storm of Swords:

Lately she’s been on a Sherlock kick (both the recent movie and the BBC television series).  I’ve been on a Sherlock kick too, so I’m right there with her.  Visit her tumblr page to see some more artwork and gifs.  I’m particularly fascinated with the Shadow and the Flame, which I hope becomes a thing.  A thing of which I can buy.

How about some baby Doctor Who villians?

I posted this on Twitter last week, but it warrants reposting: The many uses of Captain America’s shied (aka the most adorable Captain America cartoon you’ll ever see)

One of my favorite websites, io9, posted some awesome Game of Thrones fanart (though be warned, a few pieces aren’t so safe for work), which led me to artists such as Kali Ciesemier and Megan Ferguson.  The below is the piece featured of Maré Odomo:

On a minorly related side note: For those of you who’ve see the BBC version of Sherlock and/or anything with Benedict Cumberbatch in it, do you think he’s weird looking and/or looks like an alien?  I’ve been arguing with a co-worker about this for a couple of days.  Also, how awesome is the name Benedict Cumberbatch?  Only the British would come up with something so ridiculous that still sounds incredibly posh.

And that’s my random for today.

None of this artwork is my own.  I do not claim it.  It belongs to the people credited and linked in the post.  If you're the artist and would like me to remove the pictures, please let me know and I'll happily comply.
