Follow Friday (18) & TGIF (11): Book Fights & Blogger Recs

Follow Friday is hosted by Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read, who are both wonderful people and you should visit their awesome sites.  Today's question is:

Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

Hmm... I would want it to be two people who have absolutely no experience fighting being matched up in what would inevitably be hysterically inept. I'm thinking Bela from Twilight (pre-vampire turning) against Nora from Hush, Hush. I think Bela would probably crumple into a heap of soggy tears first, and then I'd have to have Batwoman or Katniss or even Cinder come in and take them both out.

It would also be fun to see Alexia Tarabotti for The Parasol Protectorate series and Pamela from Dearly, Departed fight each other. It would involve corsets, inappropriate language and lots of hitting each other with parasols. I think Alexia would win of course because she's older, has more experience beating up things with parasols and has all those hidden weapons stashed inside. Pamela would definitely be able to hold her own though.

TGIF is a weekly meme hosted by Greadsbooks.com, where we answer a book-related question and recap our weekly blogging.

Book Blogger Influences: Has there been a particular book blogger who's influenced what you read? Share with us a review/book blog that convinced you to pick up a certain book.

This is kind of difficult because I don't really get swayed by single book reviews as I get compelled to read a book after seeing it everywhere I turn around. Every couple of weeks there's one book that seems to be on every blog I visit and that gets ingrained into my head until I feel I must read it. I have gotten some personal suggestions from people via GoodReads, which I always take into heavy consideration because I know they're meant just for me.

This week in WFTM blog land is a bit hazy. I started a new job this week and so my brain is nicely clogged up with new knowledge. Despite that, we had posts.

- Instead of the usual Monday review, I hosted the book trailer and excerpt reveal for Kate Evangelista's up coming novel Taste

- Random Tuesday brought random videos, links and artwork, including a Tardis locker, baby Boba Fett and a little boy from my hometown having his dream of a Batman adventure come true

- Waiting on Wednesday covered a book that I'm so excited about I can't even wait for it to even have a blurb before I posted it - Shadows by Ilsa J Bick, the sequel to Ashes

- Thursday continued our month-long look at the Jaguar Addams series by BA Chepaitis with a review of A Lunatic Fear and a new contest went up last night for the Showers of Books giveaway hop

Have a great weekend and watch Supernatural tonight!
