Random Tuesday: Books Turned into Film and TV, New Releases & Steampunk, Of Course

It’s another Tuesday, so that means it’s time for random things I’ve found interesting around the Internet over the last few days. Today we have potential up-coming television shows, books being turned into films, awesome fantasy and science fiction books coming up the next few months, and more.

First the serious bit: this is a really interesting article about using books as a means of therapy. I know that I’ve found certain types of books therapeutic, though often times

I want this show more than is probably healthy, though I don’t know if it would be that great – Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn in a steampunk detective series is being developed as a potential pilot for 2013.

Speaking of steampunk, how super cool is this steampunk watch? Found on Steampunknews.co.uk here.

io9 has a solid list of some of the exciting fantasy and science fiction titles coming out this fall. I’m really interested in Pirate Cinema and The Fractal Prince.

Flavorwire puts together some interesting slide show lists. Earlier this week I found this list of odd literary friendships. I think Salinger and Hemingway was the most surprising.

These great literary quote posters have been filling my Facebook feed the past few days. It’s some great minimalistic artwork, including this Oscar Wilde inspired piece.

And there are quite a few movie adaptations of popular books coming out between now and the end of the year, and I’m not just talking about The Hobbit. The LA Times put together a short list and debated whether it was worth reading the books ahead of time.

And I think that’s enough randomosity for the week. Just a head’s up: we’ll be having another contest up late on Thursday as part of the Back to the Books giveaway hop hosted by Kathy at I Am A Reader, Not a Writer and Buried in Books. So come back and enter to win some awesome upcoming releases.

In the meantime, what are some of the random things you’ve stumbled across this week?
